Hugo is made by Yeswanth Choudari, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). If you have any question about your data, write to us at help@thehugoai.com.

Ambient memory — the apps you use, window and page titles, and the moments Hugo notices during your day — is captured and stored only on your Mac. It is not uploaded to our servers.

Summaries of your day are made on-device using Apple Intelligence where it is available.

When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile picture.

Things you choose to save (with ⌥⌘S or from the notch), your reminders, and your water-tracking settings and history are stored in your Hugo account so they are available when you need them. They are private to your account.

If you subscribe, our payment provider handles your card details. We only receive your plan, billing status and the country you are billed in.

If you join the waitlist, we store your email address.

When you ask Hugo something, or it summarizes something you saved, the relevant text is sent to an AI model provider to generate the answer. We send only what is needed for that request.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your memories to train our own models.

Each of them processes data only to provide their service to us.

You can turn ambient memory off at any time in Settings, and revoke Hugo’s macOS permissions in System Settings.

You can delete any saved item from the app. To delete your account and everything stored in it, or to get a copy of your data, email help@thehugoai.com and we will handle it within 30 days.

Data in your account is encrypted in transit and protected by access rules so only you can read it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.

Hugo is not intended for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect their data.

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
